A. If you are Accessing the QuickBooks File you Saved Earlier on a Local System

Just Follow the below method one steps.

Search for all the Company Files

First, you should visit the server system and then search for all the company files. You can do so by typing any one of the following, into the search bar. Please make sure to include the asterisk before the extension type:

📁 *.QuickBooksb (Back up files)
📁 *.QuickBooksw (Working files)
📁 *.QuickBooksy (Accountant changes files)
📁 *.QuickBooksa (Accountants Copy Files)
📁 *.QuickBooksx (Accountant Transfer Files)
 
Once you got the QuickBooks file you were looking for, note the location of the file.

Try Opening the File

i) Open the company file (.QuickBooksw)
💠 Go to the File menu
💠 Ø Click on the open or restore company tab
💠 Click on open a company file
💠 Click on Next
💠 Select the company file
💠 Click open

ii) Restore the backup of .QuickBooksb file
💠 Go to the File menu
💠 Click on the open or restore company tab
💠 Click on the restore a backup file option.
💠 Click next.
💠 Now, select a local backup.
💠 Select the company file
💠 Click next to proceed
💠 Choose the location to keep the restored files.
 
iii) Restore the .QuickBooksx file

💠 Go to the File menu
💠 Click on the open or restore company tab
💠 Click on the convert an accountant’s copy transfer file option
💠 Click next to proceed
💠 The window named what the accountant’s copy can and can’t do will pop up on your screen
💠 Click next to proceed
💠 select the file you transferred
💠 Click to open it.
💠 Choose a suitable location to keep the Accountant’s copy file
💠 Finally, click on save

B. If you are accessing the QuickBooks File over a Network

Just Follow the below method two steps.

Verify the Network Connectivity

💠 Press Windows + R  together. The Run box will appear on your screen.
💠 type CMD and press Enter
💠 The command prompt window will appear
💠 type ipconfig/all
💠 Press Enter key
💠 Note down the name of the server
💠 Type Ping followed by the server name.
💠 Hit Enter 
💠 See if you are getting a reply for each of the packets. If not, there are some issues with your network. Try fixing this with the QuickBooks File Doctor Tool

Step 2- Search for all the company files

💠 First, you should visit the server system and then search for all the company files. You can do so by typing any one of the following, into the search bar. Please make sure to include the asterisk before the extension type:
📁 *.QuickBooksb

📁 *.QuickBooksa
📁 *.QuickBooksx
 
💠 Once you got the QuickBooks file you were looking for, note the location of the file.
💠 Right-click on it
💠 Click on Open File Location.
💠 Lastly, open the file from the correct location.

i)  Open the QuickBooks company file (.QuickBooksw)

💠 Go to the File menu
💠 Click on the open or restore company tab
💠 Click on open a company file
💠 Click on Next
💠 Now, search for the QuickBooks company file with .QuickBooksw extension
💠 Click open
 
ii) Open  the backup .QuickBooksb file

💠 Go to the File menu
💠 Click on the open or restore company tab
💠 Click on the restore a backup file option.
💠 Click next.
💠 Now, search for the QuickBooks Backup file with .QuickBooksb extension 
💠 Click next to open the backup file
 
Iii) Open an accountant’s copy transfer file
 
💠 Go to the File menu
💠 Click on the open or restore company tab
💠 Click on the convert an accountant’s copy transfer file option
💠 Click next to proceed
💠 The window named what the accountant’s copy can and can’t do will pop up on your screen
💠 Click next to proceed
💠 Now, search for the QuickBooks file with .QuickBooksx extension
💠 Click to open it.
💠 Choose a suitable location to keep the Accountant’s copy file
💠 Finally, click on save
